As part of a strategic goal of creating a “self-sustaining learning and leading culture by 2017,” ATW has launched a new rotational role for 3-5 employees per plant as representatives of a new group called “The Learning Academy.” These representatives are part of a culture change initiative, learning how to lead, teach and coach others, how to onboard colleagues into our Genius culture, and how to establish foundation of training at each site.
As deliverables, this group will lead the upgrade of training materials (Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, PowerPoints, etc.) to meet employee needs and include ATW’s Genius culture. In addition, they will facilitate the development of an annual learning curriculum for each site, and develop and implement Genius-oriented learning experiences. Their perspective will support the Corporate Officers in identifying key learning gaps for 2016 business plan. Lastly but more importantly, their work within the companies will help all people see themselves as leaders.
The approach for this rotation includes a 12 week intensive training period, with online self-study “IAM Happy @ Work” and weekly group meetings. They will be completing independent side work, expanding the leadership culture to others through projects focused on training, development, and Lean Initiatives.
Throughout the following 9 months of their 1-year rotation, they will advise on Strategic Planning, consult on projects outside the Learning Academy for learning/facilitation strategies, and focus on curriculum development. We look forward to seeing how this first year of representatives discover new ways of leading and helping others lead, before they hand off to the 2nd year of representatives in June 2016!
