A.T. Wall Company, a world-class supplier of superior precision tubing and fabricated metal components, announced that it has established a rapid response engineering department to provide prototypes quickly, better supporting its customers in product development and processing.
The newly expanded team is composed of engineers with backgrounds in materials, process, and mechanical engineering focused on understanding the big picture and listening to project engineers’ needs at every phase of their development process. The new engineering unit will reduce quotation lead time and concept development by as much as 50 percent.
“The enhanced engineering team gives us the ability to move projects along quickly,” said Donna Parker, A.T. Wall’s director of sales. “Our customers know they can come to us for support and assistance in developing their concepts without delay.”
For one customer seeking to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. from Taiwan to improve product quality, the team was able to develop the concept and prototype within two weeks. ATW is currently using all of its materials resources and honing in on the manufacturing process to reduce costs sufficiently to make it feasible to manufacture the product in the U.S.
“We know we have to bring large volume jobs into our factory to remain competitive,” said Parker. Our expanded engineering group gets us in on the ground floor, and has the skills and expertise to support our customers’ need for prototype development. If a project drives towards commercialization, the team can flip the switch and go into full production.”
